Lampclick.com – Illuminate Your Home With New Indoor Lighting Fixtures

07 Feb

When redecorating or remodeling your house, one of the features that might need a bit of extra consideration is the indoor lighting. A normal glass globe over a regular 120 watt bulb is common in households; however, for the adventurous type there are several other choices besides the most common.

Consider the function of your indoor lighting, is the sole purpose to light the room or help set a mood, the mood can vary between cozy, romantic, professional, or pristine depending on the person. Your personality and lifestyle should always be a part of your decision in the ton of your room lighting.

Ambient, Accent, Decorative, and Task lighting are the four main types of indoor lighting, each adding a unique light to any room. Ambient lighting is the type of lighting that gives just enough not to blind you but to light the entire room. Accent lighting creates a mood in the room, but it normally focuses on a certain part of the wall where artwork or other decorative pictures are hung. Decorative lighting adds décor and illuminates the room. Task lighting is exactly that, helps with concentrated light for those simple everyday tasks of reading, writing, and sewing.

If there are a lot of imperfections in the room that you wish to hide, you can do so with contemporary lighting, gives just enough light for safety but covers those little cracks or chips from sight. You can also use indoor lighting to set the mood of a room. If a lot of guests are present in one room of your home, you might try to add a special touch with classic contemporary lighting fixtures or maybe the dinning room needs a chandelier or two to brighten the mood at the dinner table. Lighting can set a romantic mood for the bedroom if done right, a dimmer switch is ideal with energy saving light bulbs.

If you have an activity room that is frequented due to a gaming system or a special television for the significant other, you might want to add just enough lighting to tone the room. These rooms are perfect for task lamps because they are designating one area for a certain project, such as gaming, playing on the computer, or beside a recliner that is normally a key reading spot. The ceiling fixture is where the actual light to brighten the room will be, but with enough floor lamps and the task lamp or two, that light will not be used that often.

Most people will classify the bathroom as the room that needs the most light. This is not necessarily true, as long as the light offered illuminates the bathroom enough to get the jobs done, the amount of lighting is not a problem. If redecorating your bathroom, you could choose to run illuminating light bulbs along the sides of the mirror and for the men that love shaving in the shower, a nice shower mirror/radio combo with a light attached.

Contemporary lighting was used at one point in time as an outside light to keep the wildlife away, now it is used in homes across the world as decorative lighting. Indoor lighting can be tricky to perfect if you are using several different types of lighting fixtures; however, the out come can be on a more personal level than hiring a home decorator.

There are a wide variety of styles to choose from when it comes to lighting fixtures and accessories, but what one never really considers is the design of an actual light bulb.
Having an eclectic and funky table lamp or floor lamp could definitely bring that added spunk into your interiors, but consider utilizing an audaciously designed light bulb.

Pieke Bergsman a Dutch designer has an inventive outlook when it comes to designing different furniture and accessories. Her rendition of the common household light bulb has created a fun look into how different design elements can create an artistic atmosphere in many homes.
Although they are more for a decorative function than actual use, they can still work in any room to illuminate different areas. For example, the picture below uses an oddly shaped light bulb in an extending arm wall lamp that can be used in task lighting.

The inspiration behind this design was something that had to do with a misshapen, mishap of an everyday normal object. This is why the collection was rightly named Design Virus. When asked “What is a light bulb?” Bergman answered:
“The answer is simple: it is a light bulb that has gone way out of line. Infected by the dreaded Design Virus, these bulbs have taken on all kinds of forms and sizes you wouldn’t expect from such well behaving and reliable little products. Nevertheless, they seem to be enjoying their new free existences.”
It is a handcrafted piece and uniquely blown to take the odd shapes that are presented. They are also blown and left on different furniture pieces to have that rested, melted look. It really does resemble a light bulb that has started to melt and take the shape of whatever item it is resting on. The larger bulbs are a bit intimidating, but the whole purpose of this collection is purely design.
Interior designing entails looking at ever day normal objects and rooms and turning them into an aesthetically pleasing and functional items and spaces. Bergman captured the very essence of design by looking at this specific object from a different perspective and created a new and innovative piece of art.
Not only does it fulfill an artistic need, but it could actually be put to use. These bulbs can also be attached to different types of fixtures that would really set up an interesting design layout. If you are able to decorate an interior for aesthetics more than function, this type of accessory can really showcase your design talents along with displaying your eye for originality.

Today’s Lighting Tip: Energy Efficient Lighting For Dining Rooms
The watchword when it comes to green lighting in a home? LED home light fixtures. It has become very popular over the past years. Each day, more and more residential applications of LED continue to be available and within a few years, it will have a meaningful impact on the lighting industry. In addition to LED light fixtures, here are a plenty of ways for consumers to up the eco factor.

How to layer Light in the Dining Room

Overhead lighting fixtures, typically chandeliers, take center stage in a dining room and often provides most of the space’s necessary illumination. But task lighting, perhaps at a buffet, or accent floor lamps in spots such as a cabinet create a room that’s bright in every corner.

Here are 5 ways to ensure your home’s green lighting revolution:

1. Install LED lights in your home. More and more are being offered every day; the bulbs last longer and don’t present the disposal issues of compact fluorescents, which contain mercury. LEDs have the greatest growth potential for residential applications as they require less energy than incandescent lights and even less than energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs. LEDs work particularly well in directed, down-light conditions, such as under or in cabinets.

2. Go mini! Install a series of small-scale fixtures and put them on individual controls and you may be able to reduce the energy requirements of lights in your dining room.

3. Look for higher lumens per watt. You will get a brighter light with less energy consumption.

4. Use the right light bulb for a indoor light fixture. Install a traditional compact fluorescent bulb in a recessed fixture, and you will end up with a bulb that doesn’t work well, doesn’t provide the right light, and probably burns out more quickly than you would expect.

5. Put the most-used fixtures on dimmers. People tend to turn lights down when they are on dimmers, cutting energy use.
